“I asked the resort to make the rules clear. You said there was a misunderstanding.”
Melissa pushed back her chair.
“If I lose this sponsorship, the company can demand its advance back.”
“Then return money you accepted for access you did not control.”
“You are enjoying this?”
“No. I stopped needing to enjoy your consequences when I learned to enjoy my own life.”
Robert was the first to understand that the conversation was over.
