Princess Diana or ‘Lady Di ‘was affectionately known for her compassionate and nurturing nature. She loved everyday citizens, always offering a hand to those around her. Rising to prominence on her engagement to King Charles, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest, the world soon learned of her, spotlight in tail. Many believe that the cult following of the paparazzi is what pushed her to her early and untimely death.

Princess Diana had a tough time adjusting to her royal duties
“According to her brother Charles Spencer, Princess Diana had a hard time wearing the tiara at the beginning because it caused her to have terrible headaches. In the evening we all went to a sort of semi-private party and she was there and I just remember she had a cracking headache also since she wasn’t used to wearing a tiara all morning,” he said in an interview.
As a result of a poorly planned 25 foot train on her wedding dress, Princess Diana’s dress was tremendously difficult to walk in, leaving it in a state when she entered the horse drawn carriage.
When interviewed after the engagement on whether the couple were truly in love, Charles replied, “Whatever ‘in love’ means,” to Diana’s “Of course.”
Princess Diana was hands-on in the planning of her wedding
The dress design papers were torn up after Princess Diana’s approval to avoid any leaks to the press.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana received rather unique wedding gifts, with the Reagans gifting them a handcrafted porcelain centerpiece and an engraved Steuben bowl. Other gifts were a pair of gloves made from 100 year old silk, a timepiece set with diamonds and sapphires and many other extravagant treasures.
The wedding day saw the couple exposed for sharing a common ancestor – Henry VII of the Tudors. This made them 16th cousins once removed.
A honeymoon where sleep was the real treat
When photographed on their honeymoon, a lip reader mentioned that it seemed during their conversation, the newlyweds said, “The honeymoon was the ideal time to catch up on sleep…”
