My family tried to force their way into my new home

“This is nice,” she said. “Much better than our apartment. Thanks for being so generous, sis.”

I closed the door behind them and stood calmly in the hallway.

“I’m not packing anything,” I said quietly.

My mother turned around, her smile fading.

“What did you say?”

I said, “I’m not leaving. This is my house. I bought it. It belongs to me and Lily.”

My mother laughed, but it was a cold, mocking laugh.

“You’re delusional, Sophia. We already talked about this. You’re a single mother with a newborn. You can’t manage this big house alone. We’re moving in to help you now. Stop being difficult and start packing.”

I looked at her and replied, “You’re not moving in. And you’re not taking this house. I transferred it into a trust for Lily 2 weeks ago. The house no longer belongs to me. It belongs to my daughter. You can’t sell it. You can’t transfer it. You have no legal right over it.”

The living room went completely silent.

My mother’s face turned pale. Isabella’s mouth fell open. Her husband looked confused.

My mother took a step toward me, her voice shaking with anger.

“You’re lying. You can’t do that. This house is family property.”

“No, Mom,” I said calmly. “It’s not. I bought it with my own money after Daniel died, and I made sure it was protected. You threw me and my newborn out last night. Now you have no claim over anything here.”

My sister finally spoke, her voice high and panicked.
